This collection of 20 original short nursery rhymes from Rose Fyleman (1877-1957) acquaints the young reader with the man who takes his meals upside down, the bad girl who hurled a bread roll at her teacher, the king and queen who are unable to come to an agreement about anything whatsoever, and a witch who guzzles vinegar, blacking and good red ink while sailing through the air. Fyleman's much reprinted poem Mice is also present: I think mice/ are rather nice/ Their tails are long/ their faces small/ They haven't any chins at all... Fyleman, who began her career with Punch Magazine and is credited with bringing A. A. Milne into children's writing, is also the author of A Fairy Went A-Marketing.
She originally published these verses in 1931. Full-color illustrations accompany the text.
